This is another of the African-American families that appeared after the Civil War, and is primarily identified with Darlington county in South Carolina.

There are other African-American Parrott families that also originated in Darlington county, but thus far, the paper record does not connect them. Only a Y-DNA test will be able to tell if they are related or not. These families are identified according to their earliest known ancestor:

General Notes: Gregory, "Greg", or "G", Parrott (59), the beloved son of John Robert and the late Annie Mae Horton Parrott, departed this earthly life peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. He is now in the land that is free from sickness, sorrow, pain, and death. Gregory was born April 14, 1958 in Washington D.C. He was the third of six siblings. Gregory was affectionately called the "baby boy". He is also preceded in death by his older brother Robert Parrott.

Gregory accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a very early age. He attended Prince Georges County Public School, worked a variety of skills enhancing jobs, including employment at the the National Park Service, which helped him to acquire skills which led to him starting his own landscaping business.

Gregory had a great love and compassion for people. He had a gift for bringing people together. He would talk with anybody, anywhere, and at any time. He could talk for hours, he always had a story to tell, if it was providing wisdom or just a conversation about the weather. He was referred to as "Preacher" because he was going to tell a story whether you wanted to listen to him or not. This was who he was and who God meant him to be.

He had a great passion and talent for drawing. He enjoyed spending time with his nephews, teaching them how to draw. He also loved to sing his favorite Oldies but Goodies, and he did not have a problem singing a tune as a sing-a-long with the artist or as a soloist impersonating the artist.
